Miska's Lawn and Landscaping is a family- and veteran-owned business serving homeowners and businesses throughout Central Pennsylvania.
We're building Miska's around a straightforward idea: take care of people's properties the way we'd want our own taken care of. That means showing up, communicating clearly, doing the work correctly, and taking pride in what we leave behind.
Our Story
Miska's Lawn and Landscaping started small — with one mower, a 15-year-old willing to work, and parents willing to drive him and his equipment to jobs beyond the neighborhood.
Adam Miska began the business as Miska's Lawn Services, initially focused on the lawn care work he could take on while still in school. As the business grew, so did Adam's vision for what it could become. Mowing and routine property care began developing into landscaping, hardscaping, property improvements, drainage work, and year-round services. The name eventually evolved into Miska's Lawn and Landscaping to better represent the company being built around that larger vision.
Entrepreneurship and service have deep roots in Adam's family. The Miska name has been associated with locally owned businesses in State College for generations, while the other side of his family brings decades of municipal and military service to Central Pennsylvania.
Adam's uncle, Curtis Addleman, joined the business after a 20-year career in the United States Navy. Curtis retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2023 after a career built around service, leadership, instruction, preparation, and attention to detail. Those experiences now complement Adam's hands-on approach to field operations as they work together to build the systems, capabilities, and team behind Miska's.
The company has grown considerably from that first mower, but the idea behind it remains simple: do good work, treat people and their property with respect, and build a local business worthy of the family name attached to it.
A Local Tradition
Miska's Lawn and Landscaping is a young company, but building and serving locally isn't new to the family.
For generations, members of Adam's family have built careers and businesses around the State College community — from the Miska family's longstanding jewelry and engraving businesses to more than four decades of municipal service on his mother's side of the family.
Today, Miska's Lawn and Landscaping represents another generation putting down roots in Central Pennsylvania.

Meet Adam & Curtis
ADAM MISKA
Founder | Owner & Operator
Adam founded what began as Miska's Lawn Services at just 15 years old, starting with one mower and the help of his parents getting him and his equipment to jobs beyond the neighborhood.
What began as lawn care quickly became something Adam wanted to build for the long term. His hands-on role remains at the center of Miska's today, with a focus on field operations, equipment, project execution, and continually expanding the company's capabilities.
As the business grows, Adam's goal is to build a company capable of taking on increasingly substantial projects while maintaining the personal accountability and pride in workmanship that defined Miska's from the beginning.
CURTIS ADDLEMAN
Owner / Business Operations
A State College native, Curtis joined his nephew Adam in building Miska's after a 20-year career in the United States Navy, where he retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2023.
His Navy career included leadership, instruction, culinary operations, and the development of people and programs—experience that now carries into the business side of Miska's. With bachelor's and master's degrees and a professional background spanning military service and higher education, Curtis focuses on business operations, planning, customer relationships, and building the systems needed to support the company's continued growth.
For Curtis, joining Miska's is also an opportunity to invest that experience back into his hometown and help Adam build a family business designed to last.
